San Clemente High’s own Naomi Willet (currently a senior) is now playing for the Fighting Irish. It just goes to show that talent can come from anywhere at any age.

In high school, Willet only played one year for San Juan Hills as a freshman, and at San Clemente her sophomore year before she decided to focus solely on club play. In her only year with the Tritons, Willet helped the team capture the conference and CIF Division 1 Southern Section Regional titles.

Notre Dame Coach Randy Waldrum had some experience working with Willet when she attended a college prep camp. He was her instructor at one of the camps.

“It was [at the prep camp] that I was able to see first-hand that she is highly competitive, very good technically and also has some great leadership qualities,” Waldrum said in a news release. “She also plays for one of the top clubs in the nation, so she is used to high-level competition. I expect her to come in and compete to play right away as well.”

The future employees of this great nation, Central Comm and South Coast Answering, are a talented bunch to say the least. Keep your eyes on your kid(s) and support them when they say they want to be something extraordinary. Give them a chance and they will surprise you!
